Assume nothing.

White faced and reeling, a somewhat drunken man slumps into the confessional box at a Catholic church , sits down , and says nothing.

The bewildered priest coughs to attract his attention, but no response, just silence .

"What sin could there be, my son that brings you here?" Asked the cleric, assuming that the silence was an indication of some terrible act.
"Fear not, Jesus will cleanse all that passes here."
Still, apart from a moderately loud belch and a contented sigh...... just silence.

The priest then knocks loudly on the wall three times in a final attempt to get the man to speak.

"Uh, whassamatter", came a slurred response, "`Tain`t no use banging the wall ya noisy feckin` bastard, there's no damn paper in this one either."
